The government is currently undertaking a review of BIDs as part of a wide ranging package of support for high streets.
The consultation covers four specific proposals for strengthening the role of BIDs.
- Increasing transparency to strengthen accountability and quality
- Mandating certain information within Service Level Agreements between BIDs and local authorities
- Giving BIDs the choice of who collects the levy on their behalf
- A streamlined approach for BIDs to bring forward neighbourhood plans
The Government is keen to hear of any other suggestions from businesses in BID areas.
