Coastal BID helps to launch Bournemouth Jazz Festival
The Coastal BID helped to secure the success of the inaugural Bournemouth Jazz Festival which took place from 19th – 21st June. The festival boasted over 40 different acts performing at 30 different locations across town, including the coastal villages of Southbourne and Westbourne. The BID financially supported the event by ensuring that it was promoted and achieved exposure on a national platform.
Through a partnership with Jazz FM Radio Station a catchy advert about the Jazz Festival was created and a competition to win a break for two at the Hotel Miramar was launched. Jazz FM has a weekly reach of 500,000 listeners and the Bournemouth Jazz Festival received 26 advert plays plus mentions from programme presenters.
Coastal BID Manager Stefan Krause advised, “The Jazz Festival has been a resounding success. It has brought visitors in to the town to relax and enjoy the incredible musical programme that was put together. Venues have included many popular bars, restaurants and hotels around town and there has been a combination of many free events as well as ticketed events.”
Stefan continued, “I know many local people who have invited friends to come and stay especially for the Jazz Festival and there has certainly been a buzz and musical vibe around town as visitors have enjoyed outdoor jazz concerts and events in locations such as Bournemouth Town Square, Lower Gardens and Pier Approach. This weekend I’ve seen toddlers dancing to the sounds of big band, couples jiving in the lower gardens and much foot tapping! This festival really has appealed to all ages!”
Bournemouth Jazz Festival Director, Gerry Clarke enthused, “It has been an amazing weekend of jazz. Many of the venues have been playing to packed audiences and we have been receiving fantastic feedback. We have been lucky to have attracted such a talented group of musicians to play and enjoyed an incredibly diverse and eclectic mix of music which included many ranges of jazz styles, from Big Band and Swing to the latest in Fusion and Funk. We are certainly hoping that this is the first of many Bournemouth Jazz Festivals. We are incredibly grateful for the financial support of the Bournemouth Coastal BID which allowed us to take this event on to a national platform.”
