The Localism Act 2011 introduced new powers for people to develop neighbourhood plans, with reduced interference from central government. Neighbourhood plans are applicable to specific community areas, with local forums deciding on the scope of the issues and the policies to be covered. This gives communities the power to set the priorities for local development. Once adopted the plan forms part of the statutory development plan.
Your Coastal BID Manager attended the recent Boscombe Forum where a presentation on progress was made by Poole Neighbourhood Planning. The BID will continue to engage with the Boscombe Forum which is advocating a Neighbourhood Plan for Boscombe.
