P1 Powerboat and AquaX jet ski racing returned to Bournemouth for the 3rd year running for another action packed weekend of high speed marine motor sport action and family entertainment along the beach front and on the pier, with racing heats from Bournemouth to Boscombe Pier.

Despite blustery conditions on Saturday with the last race having to be cancelled it didn’t deter thousands watching the racing on Sunday on the pier, sea front, cliff top and at local restaurants and other sea front locations.

Racing in the sunshine on Sunday saw more crowds from mid-morning and with podium celebrations crowning the champions at the end of the race season with Mayors from Bournemouth and Poole and Paul Clarke, Chairman of the Coastal BID presenting the trophies.

The weekend saw Pertemps Network crowned the 2016 P1 SuperStock UK champions, consisting of Welsh brother-sister duo Sam and Daisy Coleman.

Said Paul Clarke, Chairman of the Coastal BID, “What a great way to showcase Bournemouth and the surrounding towns to visitors. We welcome visitors and teams this weekend from as far afield as Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.”

Said Mark Smith, Director of Bournemouth Tourism, “We are delighted to welcome back the P1 Championships, with powerboats, jet skis and all round family entertainment.”

“We always receive a warm welcome in Bournemouth and it’s a great location for us. Highlights of the two day race event will be shown on Sky Sports TV in the UK, Motors TV across Europe and Internationally on the Nautical Channel later this month” said Robert Wicks, Chief Operating Officer of Powerboat P1.
