We are really happy to announce the successful launched of the inaugural Westbourne Motor Show, hosted on Saturday, 21st September 2024, in partnership with the British Motor Show (BMS). The event drew in car enthusiasts and local families creating a great buzz and a really positive atmosphere in Westbourne. From classic cars to super cars, the show provided a unique experience that both entertained and supported the local business community.
A Big Thanks to Our Traders
The success of this event wouldn’t have been possible without the enthusiastic participation of our local traders. The show helped drive significant footfall to Westbourne , with many reporting never having seen it that busy before. Barry Killeen, owner of Baks Menswear, said, “In all my time owning the shop, I’ve never seen anything so brilliant in Westbourne. Shutting the road down was a first, and I’d love to see it happen again next year.”
Why Coastal BID Organises Events Like These?
At Bournemouth Coastal BID, our mission is to create high-profile, engaging events that highlight our trading areas and increase footfall for local businesses. The Westbourne Motor Show aligns perfectly with our business plan by supporting our levy payers and traders. We try our best to put Westbourne on the map with unique events that showcase the area’s charm and drive economic growth.
The Value of the Westbourne Motor Show
The Westbourne Motor Show wasn’t just about cars—it was an event that brought the whole community together and gave the WBA an opportunity to raise funds for a local park project. The show featured a diverse range of vehicles, including Lamborghinis, Ferraris, a V8 Audi Formula 1 safety car, classic Ford Mustangs, and customised kit cars. The perfect weather, combined with the wide variety of cars on display, attracted a steady stream of visitors throughout the day. Levy payer James Roper from The Hutch coffee shop commented, “We had our best day to date, so we have the car show to thank. Today was proof that it’s doable—the footfall is there, and people want it. Bring on year two!”
National Partners and Local Support
Partnering with the British Motor Show gave the event a national profile, drawing in car lovers from across the region. We also want to extend our gratitude to Sporting Bears, a local charity, for their involvement raising money for Victoria School as well as to Kevin at BCP Highways, the BCP Events team (Lola and Charlotte), and Richard at Morebus for their essential roles in ensuring the event ran smoothly. The Westbourne Business Association (WBA) also made a fantastic contribution and helped distribute posters and letters to residents and traders and congratulations to them for raising £650 for a local park project.
