The Local Authority, have the discretion to broadened the criteria for flood damage compensation to include those businesses which have been indirectly impacted by the flooding. Damage caused by the strong winds, such as roof damage and subsequent flooding may now qualify. Businesses will need to prove they have had a loss of income as a result of the severe weather, and that any claim is for items not covered by thier own insurance.
