Coastal BID helped support the establishment of the Westbourne Business Association (WBA) and the achievement of CIC (Community Interest Company) accreditation, giving independent traders a stronger collective voice and platform to collaborate.

Love Westbourne social media
We run the Love Westbourne Instagram and Facebook pages, reaching around thousands of people with stories, features, promotions and updates from Westbourne businesses. It’s about shining a light on local shops and giving them a voice in the wider community.
A dedicated website and microsite
Visitors can easily discover what’s on, where to eat, shop and explore, making Westbourne feel more connected and accessible.
Working with the council on behalf of businesses
When issues arise, like fly-tipping, street concerns or infrastructure needs, we step in to escalate, push for solutions and get things sorted.
Regular business meet-ups
We host open discussions about the future of Westbourne, including how we shape the daytime and evening economy. It’s a collaborative space where businesses can influence what happens next.

Set up after Covid, it now provides Westbourne with an ongoing, independent business voice.

Through paid ads and digital campaigns, we help attract new visitors from further afield, not just locals.

Including bringing the UK’s largest car show event to Westbourne, driving footfall and boosting the local economy.

To help local businesses report incidents and improve safety, we’ve introduced a link to the Sentry
Security Incident Sharing (SIS) app, directly connected to Dorset Police, giving real-time reporting and support across the BID area.
Supporting Safe, Enjoyable Events Fund
Road closures when needed to ensure the smooth and safe running of local events and activities.
Working in Partnership
Maintain strong engagement with the local authority to address safety concerns, operational issues, and improvements in public spaces.
Access improvements to Xmas lights after lobbying
Coastal BID has actively engaged with the council, successfully lobbying for improvements and expansion of the Xmas lights, lighting alley ways for safety as well as making the whole area look festive and inviting. Installed festoon lighting in the alleyway between Iceland and Coffee #1, creating a brighter, safer route to Milburn Road Car Park, making the area more inviting for evening visitors.

A community Christmas tree
Helping create a festive and welcoming atmosphere.
The Green Machine
Our own cleaning and maintenance equipment that removes graffiti and waters plants—saving Westbourne around £6,000 each year compared to outsourcing.
37 planters across the district
We’ve installed and maintain 37 beautiful floral planters throughout Westbourne, creating a welcoming, colourful and greener high street all year round, helping make the environment more attractive for visitors and traders alike.
Helped with pigeon infestation in the arcade
Working with local partners and traders, Coastal BID responded to concerns about pigeon issues in the Victorian arcade, helping coordinate action to improve cleanliness and comfort for visitors.
Hanging flowers in the arcade
As part of our wider environment enhancements, decorative hanging flower displays have been added to the arcade, adding seasonal colour and charm to this key retail and pedestrian space.





Brand created for Westbourne – “Love Westbourne”
We developed the Love Westbourne brand to strengthen the area’s identity, showcase its blend of independent shops, cafés, restaurants and experiences, and help market it as a unique urban village destination.
Enhanced the Love Westbourne brand with the Travel to Westbourne campaign, including wrapping a double-decker bus.
Sky TV advert to promote Westbourne
To raise Westbourne’s profile beyond the local area, we commissioned and produced a Sky TV advert as part of a wider marketing campaign, further boosting awareness and attracting visitors.
Westbourne Motor Show (in partnership with WBA)
In collaboration with the Westbourne Business Association (WBA) and the British Motor Show, Coastal BID brought a large-scale motor show event to the centre of Westbourne — creating a standout attraction that draws visitors and celebrates the high street.
VE Day commemorations – covered by ITV News
Coastal BID organised special celebrations for VE Day in Westbourne, creating a memorable community event that garnered media attention, including coverage by ITV News, highlighting local heritage and community spirit.
Seasonal & Community Events
Hosted six weeks of Christmas events with live music every week.
Partnered with Bournemouth Coastal BID hotels to promote Westbourne to over 2 million guests, contributing to major town-wide events like Christmas Tree Wonderland and Friday Fireworks.
Organised standout events such as the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, Comedy Festival, and the Coastal Critters art installation by a national artist, which gained BBC coverage.
Special Celebrations
Decorated Westbourne with 40km of bunting for the Queen’s Jubilee.
Provided and installed Union Jack flags for the King’s Coronation.
Creative Marketing
Sourced local artists to create bespoke illustrations for Westbourne events.
